          What kind of super hero would you be? A speedy star? Invisible? Super strength? In this course, students will explore the many ingredients of a super hero, including strengths and weaknesses, the responsibility of being a hero, and everyday heros. Campers will use these ideas to create fun drawings, paintings, and sculpture. Explore the exciting world of super heros!

        • Dancin' Days! (K-2)

          Dancin' Days is a camp designed for children who love the popular music of today! This camp will combine ballet, jazz, and musical theatre styles of dance in a rocking fun atmosphere! Students will learn proper dance technique and will get great experience in ballet, jazz, and musical theatre dance. By learning proper steps to the music they love, the students will be able to put on a revue at the conclusion of the camp. Meanwhile, campers will create fun decorations for their revue (a paper backdrop), design their own star outfits (make a t-shirt), make a collage of their favorite dancin' stars, and experiment with their own creative choreographic style (create their own moves)! They will learn all about the stage, the movies, performing, and how to shine as bright as they can, all while learning new dance steps!

          In this series of workshops, participants will experiment with a variety of other art forms and madiums to include magic color scratch art, water painting, spiral sketching, sculpting with clay and wax, water colors, mandala making, photography, music and musical instruments to discover those art forms that will help them express themselves and write creatively. Campers will also explore the various ways in which they can display their art and writing together in a book, and the last class will be a reading of students' work.

          An introduction to American musical theatre. Start with improvisational games, learn physical and vocal warm-ups as preparations for learning songs from classical Broadway musicals. Along with the songs, we'll learn about the characters and stories of the original shows. At the end of the session, we will put on a musical revue of the songs we learned for friends and family.

          Come and create your own masterpieces inspired by artists from around the world and throughout time. We will look at the work of Michelangelo and Leonardo and create family portraits, look at ancient Greece and sculpt story vases in clay and create mosaics like those found in Pompeii. Bring your sense of adventure as you will learn new techniques and experiment with materials.

          Students will "dive" into various water-based art projects using materials such as watercolors, watercolor pencils and paper mache to create various images that are influenced by the sea. Campers will create projects that reinforce basic art principles and design. Examples of projects may include reading the story Swimmy by Leon Lionni and then creating multimedia watercolor paintings inspired by techniques used by Lionni. An additional project will be the creation of an underwater seascape inspired from illustrator and writer, Eric Carl.

          Come climb into a time machine as we explore artwork created many years ago. Go into a "cave" to create cave paintings like those found in Europe, use clay to sculpt like the ancient Greeks and visit Ireland to create an illuminated manuscript page. Don't forget to pack your imagination for this trip!

          Have a blast designing and building many types of puppets and puppet masks, using a variety of materials. Collaborate with your fellow campers to write original puppet show stories. Then, build props and scenery to add to the fun and present a final performance on the last day of camp. This camp is a wonderful chance for campers to learn teamwork skills! Campers will enjoy interacting with each other as we make puppets in various forms and create plays for them. A puppet promenade.

          Using photos and various prints of landscapes, campers will learn to train their eye to discover where the horizon line appears in a picture, painting or photo. Campers will learn how foreground, background and middle ground help create interesting landscapes. Campers will use different media, such as watercolor, tempera, chalk and more, to create geometric cityscapes, water/beach scenes and typical landscapes.

Students will work on tone production, fingering, music reading and ensemble playing. Each student will learn a solo piece to perform at the end of camp. See how other artists and paleontologists have depicted dinosaurs, then choose to create your own sculptures, giant assemblages, dino-cartoons, and more!

          Campers will use recyclable materials to create various robots using materials that are either recyclable or found. The robots will be required to have a function and a purpose. The final show will consist of a group of scenes based around several group numbers. As a special finale to the show, campers will compose their very own musical theatre song!

Rainsticks from South America, kachinas from North America, paper cutting from Poland, mosaics from Israel will be a few of our projects as we travel around the world.

          Campers will create puppets of all shapes and sizes! We will be using wood, material, faux fur, and all kinds of sparkles, yarn, and fun items to create our puppets. Campers will use existing patterns as well as create their own to make their own unique puppets.  Animals, people, insects, and wild things will be our subject matter. Our cutting skills will be utilized to the fullest as well as our decoration skills as we personalize each project as ours.

          Come and create a short musical theater production! Campers will complete exciting activities based on storytelling and acting and play some improvisational games like “one word story” or “late student” that require the students to act out a story on the spot. Campers will craft a story based on archetypes of fairy tales and other stories familiar to the students, as well as folk songs. Campers will also make their own costumes, props, and scenery!

          All the world's a stage and we want you on it! Get moving and shaking with Shakespeare through theatre games, music, acting exercises, and the unique opportunity to rehearse and perform actual scenes from Shakespeare's plays. At the end of the camp, you'll be stuck on Shakespeare!

        • Supersize Me!

          Campers will build large scale sculptures using materials such as recyclables, cardboard, wire and paper mache. First, they will create a life-sized version of their project to explore various sculpture and assemblage techniques. Then, they will supersize their object and create a sculpture that is twenty times larger! Campers will choose their own objects and will have the opportunity to incorporate materials from home.

        • The Art of Children's Books - CAMP FULL

          Ever wonder how the artwork in children's books are created? Here is your chance to find out how to create them. We will explore the work of Leo Leonni with cut paper, Eric Carle with collage, and Robert Sabuda with pop-ups, as well as others. Please bring some of your own favorites to share too!

          Campers will learn and apply basic embroidery stitches, applique, and beading skills as they create their own original designs, like a hat, bag, or miniature crazy quilt, adorned with embroidery stitches, buttons, trims, fabric scraps, and applique. This camp is as fun as it is educational!

          Campers will have a variety of experiences in sculptural media and techniques, like salt and flour dough, paper mache, soft sculpture, found object sculpture, masks, and mosaics. Campers have the chance to get a little messy and learn a lot about sculpture!
