Howard County Arts Council is excited to announce a major new public art opportunity in Elkridge!
We’re issuing a national Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a signature public art sculpture at the new Elkridge Community & 50+ Center – a 67,000-square-foot hub that will include a gym and multi-purpose spaces for residents of all ages. The commission is funded at $500,000, making this one of the most significant public art projects in the region.
We’re seeking professional artists and artist teams with experience in large-scale, outdoor sculpture and durable materials. The artwork should reflect Elkridge’s character, heritage, and diversity, and become a bold, welcoming landmark rooted in community identity.
Submission deadline: January 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM ET
