This class introduces students to the fundamentals of textile-based visual art through basic garment alteration and upcycling techniques. Participants will learn essential hand-sewing and machine-sewing skills while developing an understanding of fabric structure, garment construction, and proportion. Through guided instruction and individual support, students will apply foundational design principles to alter, repair, and creatively repurpose clothing and textiles. Emphasis is placed on skill-building, creative problem-solving, and sustainable approaches to visual art.
