Providing Affordable Space for Emerging Artists
The Emerging Artist Studio Program provides a temporary, one-year, studio space to an emerging or mid-career artist for whom a short-term residency may make a significant difference to their career development or completion of a project. Artists working in a variety of fine arts styles and media are encouraged to apply. Studios feature abundant natural light. Artists have access to water and 24-hour access to their studio space.
Applications open in February and artists are selected by a jury process for a one-year lease from July-June.

Cheri Glover – 2024-2025
As a long-time resident of Howard County, Cheri attended Wilde Lake High School and received a BFA from Towson University. In her artistic journey, she celebrates color and design, exploring shapes, transparencies, and the unconventional use of positive and negative space. Her creative process begins intuitively with layers of acrylic paint on canvas, appreciating the medium’s flexibility and the surprises that arise from color and shape interactions. She also enjoys the later stages of her process by defining shapes more accurately and bringing about recognizable images. Life and nature inspire her, reflecting her deep affection for both. Her aim is to evoke emotions and forge profound connections through her art. With successful sales to collectors in Maryland and some parts of the US, along with numerous solo exhibitions in Howard County, her passion for art continues to drive her.
