Arts for All
Announced in the spring of 2024, Arts for All will commission permanent, iconic public art installations that will be strategically placed at county facilities and community spaces. Arts for All underscores the role of public art in placemaking, providing spaces for inspiration, reflection, and interaction.

Arts for All is a partnership between Howard County, Maryland, and the Howard County Arts Council. Announced in the spring of 2024, Arts for All will commission permanent, iconic public art installations that will be strategically placed at county facilities and community spaces. Arts for All underscores the role of public art in placemaking, providing spaces for inspiration, reflection, and interaction.
In his FY2025 Operating Budget, County Executive Calvin Ball dedicated $1.5 million to fund up to four public art installations over the next several years. This funding represents a strong commitment to integrating art into public spaces in a meaningful and lasting way.
The Howard County Arts Council has partnered with MIG, a recognized firm specializing in public art consulting, placemaking, community engagement, and urban planning for this project.
Elkridge Community and 50+ Center
In March 2025, County Executive Calvin Ball announced a new 67,000 sq. ft. Elkridge Community & 50+ Center with gym, pool, and $500K for permanent public art in the $25M budget.
Longwood Public Garden

In December 2025, County Executive Calvin Ball announced a Public Garden at Longwood, Glenwood, featuring global plants and $500K for permanent public art as part of the public garden budget.
