Howard County Arts Council Announces Two New Exhibits: Clarity & Perspective and ImPRINT
ELLICOTT CITY, MD – The Howard County Arts Council is pleased to announce two new exhibits opening August 15 and on view through September 27: Clarity & Perspective and ImPRINT.
Clarity & Perspective is a group exhibition curated by C.T. Denby that invites a fresh look at the stories often told about Black identity and history. While many well-known depictions focus on reinterpreting historical moments, such as slavery or narratives like those in The Help, this exhibition shifts the focus to celebrate themes of joy, resilience, innovation, and forward-looking perspectives. It offers an opportunity to expand and enrich our collective understanding of an often misunderstood experience by showcasing a broader and more uplifting vision of the African diaspora. Clarity & Perspective features the work of Shiri Achu, Janai Marshall, Monica Milton, Samantha Modder, Qrcky, Ken “Tsunami” Shep, and Brent Taylor.
ImPRINT is a group exhibition featuring works by printmakers Martin Krafft, Donald Depuydt, and Alexander D’Agostino engaging in themes such as history, archival research, and image development.
Both exhibits will be on view from August 15 through September 27, 2025, with a free public reception on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 6-8pm. The reception will be part of the Arts Council’s Annual Meeting and FY26 Grant Awards Ceremony. Opening remarks by Arts Council Board President Adam Stull will be followed by the presentation of grant awards by Howard County Executive Calvin Ball (invited). State and local public officials and leaders in the arts will be attending to recognize and celebrate Howard County’s vibrant arts community.
Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10am-8pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 12-4pm. For the most up-to-date information on holiday and weather-related closures, or to learn more about HoCo Arts programs and exhibits, call (410) 313-2787 or visit hocoarts.org.
