Head StART in ART
Under the guidance and inspiration of our artists-in-residence, Head StART in ART is a program that provides opportunities for pre-K students from low-income families to explore the arts and their own creativity.

About Head StART in ART
Our professional visiting artists share their talents in Head Start classrooms for periods of three-to-six weeks, giving children of all abilities an in-depth, hands-on artistic experience they might never otherwise have. Participation in a program like this during the formative years can have a significant impact on a child’s future appreciation of and involvement in the arts and strengthens core language, learning, and social skills.
This incredibly important and successful program has been recognized by the National Endowment and the Maryland State Arts Council as a model early childhood arts education program for the Arts.
The Arts Council coordinates, administers and funds Head StART in ART, with additional grants from the Isadore and Bertha Gudelsky Family Foundation, Inc.
