Memories of growing up on a Kentucky farm provide plenty of inspiration for artist Cathy Perry’s nature-based work, as seen in both of her ARTsites 2018 sculptures. In Autumn Glory, installed at the Howard County Public School System Administrative Offices, the lacy shell of a fallen leaf evokes the end of one season and the start of another, continuing life’s neverending cycle. Meanwhile, the harmony between the pond plants and animals depicted in Oasis I, located at the Glenwood Branch of the Howard County Library System, mimics the balance found in nature.
A resident of Lewisburg, Kentucky, Cathy Perry earned her MFA in Sculpture from East Carolina University. Her sculpture Sea Glade was part of ARTsites 2015.
ARTsites 2018 sculptures will be in place through July 2019. Our new ARTsites brochure will be available soon. Call 410-313-ARTS (2787) to request your copy.
