We are pleased to welcome Charlotte Mann as our first Resident Emerging Artist! Charlotte is a painter whose favored subject matter is portraiture, which she explores through a humanistic and spiritual lens. “My self-portraits,” she says, “allow me to share with others what’s inside and explore the dichotomy between emotion and truth, by contrasting my literal face with Biblical Hebrew or Greek texts that relate to my personal experiences.” Charlotte works primarily in acrylic and watercolor.
Born and raised in Columbia, Charlotte received an AA in Art from Howard Community College in 2015 and a BA in Studio Art (Honors) and Art History in 2018 from the University of Maryland, College Park. She credits the Howard County Public School System’s Gifted and Talented Portfolio Development Program with helping her mature and develop as an artist in grades 6 through 12.
Charlotte’s residency began November 1st and will run through June 30, 2020. You can read her complete bio here and view her work on her website. You can also visit Charlotte here at the Center in studio #7C.
HCAC’s Resident Emerging Artist Program was established to provide temporary studio space to an emerging artist for whom a short-term residency may make a significant difference to their career development or completion of a project.
