A stylized bouquet decked in the colors of a morning sky, In the Morning offers visitors to Howard County General Hospital an uplifting message of cheer and good wishes. Artist Cathrin Hoskinson describes the sculpture, crafted of powder-coated aluminum and stainless steel, as a ‘signpost for hope.’
Hoskinson likens her sculptural works to “large drawings whose fragile lines create an interaction of color and shadow with their surroundings, giving reference to landscape painting.” Her outdoor sculpture has been shown around the United States; her paintings and indoor pieces have also been widely exhibited.
A transplanted Canadian now living in Rhinebeck, New York, Hoskinson earned a BFA in sculpture from State University of New York at Purchase and an MFA from Hunter College. In the Morning is her fifth sculpture included in an ARTsites exhibit.
ARTsites 2020 sculptures will be on display through July 2021. Our ARTsites 2020 brochure is now available – email info@hocoarts.org to request a copy or click here to view photos of the sculptures online.
