HCAC’s Visual & Performing Arts Camps
June 28 – August 27
Summer’s coming – are you ready? Enrollment for our camps is limited this year, so avoid disappointment by reserving your child’s spot now!
Here’s a sampling of some of the camps we’re offering in our early sessions:
Creative Cross Stitch
Session 1: June 28 – July 2, Grades 4-7
Campers will learn the basics of cross stitch, including different stitch types and how to follow and stitch along a pattern. After mastering these skills, campers are invited to create an original pattern of their own.
Storytime Shakespeare: Romances
Session 2: July 6-9, Grades K-2
Our youngest campers will spend their mornings warming up with theatre games and acting exercises before diving into crafts in the afternoon. Each day will focus on telling the story in a community circle of a different Shakespeare play. During this shorter 4-day week we will focus on Shakespeare’s romances like Romeo and Juliet, Two Gentleman of Verona, and Twelfth Night. On Friday we will film a virtual performance to share with family & friends.
Sculpt & Shrink
Session 2: July 6-9, Grades 2-4
Get ready to make all the tiny things in this shrinking & sculpting camp. Literally watch your art creation shrink using shrink plastic or be sculpted through air dry and polymer clays. Campers will work with a different art material each day to create jewelry charms, animal figurines, keychains, and more.
Camps will be offered in one-week, full-day sessions for students entering Grades K-7. Individual camps will be structured as learning pods consisting of one instructor, one counselor, and up to 8 campers. The use of face masks, physical distancing, and health screenings are among the other safety precautions that will also be in place.
