HCAC’s Visual & Performing Arts Camps
Through August 27
It’s August and fall is just around the corner, but you’ll be pleased to know there’s still time to enrich your child’s summer with the arts! Spaces remain available in several of our upcoming Visual & Performing Arts camps, so don’t miss this opportunity – register today!
Here are a few of our camps with space available:
Meeting Mr. Shakespeare: Two Gentlemen of Verona
Session 7: August 9-13, Grades 2-7
Meeting Mr. Shakespeare: Macbeth
Session 8: August 16-20, Grades 2-7
It’s never too early to be introduced to the classics! And who better to start with than the master storyteller, Mr. William Shakespeare? Campers will get a chance to move around during these action-packed camps. In addition to theatre games and acting exercises, each camp will explore more in-depth scene study focusing on a different one of Shakespeare’s introductory plays. Once each session we will explore (physically distanced) basic, unarmed stage combat and on Fridays we will film a virtual performance for family and friends. Our session 7 camp will focus on the play Two Gentlemen of Verona, while Macbeth will be featured in our session 8 camp.
Pop-pin Into Art
Session 7: August 9-13, Grades 4-7
Come be inspired by one of the most famous art movements in history: Pop Art, which stood for Popular Art! Campers will be inspired by the likes of Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Claes Oldenburg, Roy Lichtenstein, and Wayne Thiebaud as they create art with both conventional and unconventional materials.
Camps are offered in one-week, full-day sessions for students entering Grades K-7. Individual camps will be structured as learning pods consisting of one instructor, one counselor, and up to 8 campers. The use of face masks, physical distancing, and health screenings are among the other safety precautions that will also be in place.
