June 21, 12pm
Howard County Center for the Arts
The public is invited to join us for the unveiling of a colorful new project completed through our Head StART in ART Artist-in-Residence program.
Over the course of ten months, artist-in-residence Marcie Wolf-Hubbard led students at the Ellicott City Head Start Center in the creation of tiny houses. Starting with a milk carton, students used papier-mȃché to assemble their version of a home, decorating their finished structures with paint and other embellishments.
The completed houses will be on display in the lobby of the Center for the Arts for visitors to enjoy through the end of the summer.
The Tiny House Project was made possible through our long-standing partnership with the Ellicott City Head Start Center. For more than twenty years, our Head StART in ART program has provided hands-on arts experiences to Head Start students through artist residencies. The residency was funded through a grant from the Isadore and Bertha Gudelsky Family Foundation, Inc.: Arlene Gudelsky Kaufman, Shelley Gudelsky Mulitz, Michael T. Friedman, and Laura Gudelsky Mulitz.
Head Start is a federally funded program that has helped low-income families across the country since 1965.
