Gather, Arrange and Construct: The Open-Ended World of Collage
Session 7, PM: August 8-12, Grades 2-5
Get ready to cut, paste and make art! Collage is an art form that is made by sticking all kinds of materials such as magazine pictures, photos, fabric, newspaper, wallpaper or wrappers to cardboard, paper, canvas or backing. Campers will enjoy this tactile course through the exploration of a variety of materials and techniques. Historical references from world-renowned collage artists will be shared with campers to inspire creativity and self-expression.
Mask Mania
Session 8, PM: August 15-19, Grades 4-7
Campers will view examples of masks from various cultures and discuss the roles these masks play in celebrations, ceremonies, and theatrical performances. Using a variety of materials and techniques, they will create their own masks and end the week with a small gallery show for friends and family on Friday.
Soundscape Slam
Session 9, PM: August 22-26, Grades 4-7
In Soundscape Slam, campers will get to march to the beat of their own drum. Each day they’ll blast out beats on a musical journey to generate rhythm. Using found objects, body percussion and vocal sounds, campers will learn about being a performing in a welcoming/inclusive environment. Sessions will be tailored to the experience level and abilities of the enrolled campers – first timers and experienced drummers are welcome!
