Owen Crider, a recent graduate of Atholton High School, approached the Arts Council in the fall of 2022 with a proposal. Throughout the pandemic, Owen had been branching out from his theatrical roots to explore other forms of artistic expression and this sparked an idea. It occurred to him that collaborating with the Arts Council to interview Howard County artists working in non-traditional or lesser-known artistic mediums would allow him to share their work with a wider audience, possibly helping others discover a new interest or passion. A Girl Scout since first grade, Owen developed the proposal for his Gold Ambassador award and, with the Arts Council’s mentorship, he got to work researching artists. The results of the interviews he conducted are available to view on our website.
The Arts Council would like to recognize Owen for the many hours he dedicated to completing this project and for helping to shine a light on several of the many talented artists in our community.
