Daytime visitors to Clarksville Commons will experience Paul Steinkoenig’s Solar Hope differently than those who visit after dark. During the day, the sculpture’s steel and glass structure and solar panels draw the eye; at night, the focus is the gentle glow of the stacked lights, which seemingly float in space.
A proponent of harnessing the sun for the earth’s power needs, Steinkoenig says the sculpture reflects his hope that humans will continue to evolve in ways that work with nature and the world as cooperative partners and caretakers.
