From its resting spot in a tranquil courtyard garden outside the Wincopin Lakeside Building in Columbia, the interconnected brushed aluminum lines of Jeff Chyatte’s Dalliance lead the viewer on a precise yet meandering journey that suggests there is a permanency in even the most ephemeral of liaisons.
A professor in the Biological and Chemical Services Department at Montgomery College, Chyatte draws on his expertise in science and mathematics to achieve balance and harmony in his art, noting that “incorporating mathematically significant dimensions, such as the Fibonacci sequence and the Golden Ratio, ensures a subtle equilibrium found in nature.”
Dalliance is the second Chyatte sculpture included in an ARTsites exhibit. The first, Symbiosis, was installed at Aida Bistro, Corporate Office Properties Trust as part of ARTsites 2015. Enthusiastic about the possibilities created by public art, Chyatte says he hopes that “introducing sculpture into the landscape will open visitors to new ideas, inspire dialogue, enliven the community, and improve access to the arts.”
ARTsites sculptures will be in place through July 2017. Click here to view all twelve sculptures and venues or call 410-313-ARTS (2787) to request a copy of our ARTsites brochure.
