Ray Katz’s Winter Moon, installed at Aida Bistro, is a graceful union of rigid lines and sweeping curves. The piece is aptly named, its brushed aluminum surface bringing to mind a frozen lake at twilight. Katz brings visual balance to his sculptures through the abstract manipulation of form and shape.
A native of Detroit, Michigan, Katz became interested in art while serving in the Air Force, eventually receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Eastern Michigan University. He is currently a Professor of Art at Oakland Community College in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
