Jeff Chyatte’s Prowess is an eye-catching addition to the grounds outside Slayton House in Columbia. Its puzzle-like brushed aluminum structure achieves a balance between strength and serenity that’s easy to appreciate.
Chyatte, who works primarily with metal and stone, says his sculpture is about balance, imbalance, and exploration. “My work attempts to understand the human condition through discovery of the relationships between its basic components,” he says. When he’s not creating sculpture, Chyatte works as a professor in the Biological and Chemical Services Department at Montgomery College. This is his fourth year as an ARTsites participant.
ARTsites 2018 sculptures will be in place through July 2019. Our ARTsites 2018 brochure is now available. Call 410-313-ARTS (2787) to request your copy.
