Visual & Performing Arts Camps
June 26-August 18 | Howard County Center for the Arts
Our Visual & Performing Arts Camps offer a wide range of fun and educational arts opportunities — there’s something for everyone! Choose from eight one-week, full- or half-day sessions for students entering grades K-7. Before- and after-care are also available. Space is limited, so don’t delay!
Here’s a small sampling of our available camps:
The Drawing Zoo: Spines and Shells
Session 4 – AM, Grades 4-7 and PM, Grades K-3
Session 7 – AM, Grades K-3 and PM, Grades 3-5
Get ready for some creepy, crawly, artful fun! Each day, you’ll be introduced to a new animal and its corresponding skeleton, then you’ll be challenged to build a replica. Learn about the different types of skeletons amongst vertebrates and invertebrates as you encounter a new live animal each day, like caterpillars, Madagascar hissing bugs, turtles, and snakes!
Shakespeare Moves
Session 6 – AM, Grades 1-3 and PM, Grades 4-7
Session 7 – AM, Grades 4-7 and PM, Grades 1-3
Campers will explore and bring to life the work of Shakespeare through elements of stage action, movement, blocking, and choreography. We will learn basic stage directions, create props, and rehearse our scenes for a special performance on the last day of camp!
Everybody is a Hero
Session 6 – AM, Grades 2-4
In this camp everyone is a superhero! Create your own hero characters, design superhero costumes complete with capes, wands, and logos, and then write an original comic starring your new character. Let’s get ready to save the world!
