ELLICOTT CITY, MD — The Howard County Arts Council (HCAC) is pleased to announce the 12 sites and sculptures selected for ARTsites 2023, an annual public art exhibit in Howard County, MD. The sculptures will be installed in August 2023 and will remain in place until July 2024.
About ARTsites:
ARTsites 2023 is a year-long public art exhibit that will take place at 12 sites throughout Howard County. The goal of ARTsites is to place sculpture at outdoor locations throughout Howard County to engage the community and enhance public spaces. The sculptures will create visual anchor points and increase accessibility to the arts.
ARTsites Panel:
The ARTsites panel selected the host sites and narrowed down the artwork submissions to 23 finalists. The individual sites then selected the work to be installed at their location from among those finalists. The panel consisted of Kristin O’Connor, Howard County Department of Planning and Zoning; Julie Hughes-Jenkins, Corporate Office Properties Trust; Michelle Talibah, New Door Creative; Flannery Winchester, Public Art Manager, Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County; and Coleen West, HCAC Executive Director.

- Good Morning Sunshine! by David Friedheim – Howard County Library System, Central Branch
- Four Sided Insect House by Elliott Hamilton – Robinson Nature Center
- Can You Hear Me Now? by Bobby Donovan – Savage Mill
- Flight by Ray Katz – Slayton House
- Electric Water by Richard Pitts – Corporate Office Properties Trust
- Big Mr. Yellow by Bobby Donovan – Howard Community College
- Perception #2 by Chris Plaisted – Howard County General Hospital
- Take a Look Above You by Sally Myers – Clarksville Commons
- Chess/Checkers Table and Chairs by Kirk Seese – Gary J Arthur Community Center
- The Evening Blooms by Cathrin Hoskinson – Howard County Public School System Administration Building
- About to Fly by Sookkyung Park – Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods
