The brushed metal surfaces of Mary Angers’ Sun to Moon Rotation and The Single Twist 2 reflect the sun’s rays, adding a bit of bling to their respective locations at Clarksville Commons and Howard County Government’s George Howard Building. As its title suggests, Sun to Moon Rotation explores the relationship between two celestial bodies, while The Single Twist 2 reveals the shape created as a plane encountering gravitational pull begins to turn in space.
Angers has created sculpture using a diverse range of media, including laminated glass, metalworking, painting, animated and computer-generated video and film, and stone. The natural sciences provide plenty of inspiration, resulting in works that often relate to rhythms and cycles found in nature. ARTsites 2021 is her fourth ARTsites exhibit.
ARTsites 2021 sculptures will be on display through July 2022. To request a copy of our ARTsites 2021 brochure, email info@hocoarts.org, or click here to download a digital copy.
