As the primary funder for the arts in Howard County, one of our most important responsibilities is the administration of public and private funds designated to local and regional arts grants. As a steward of these funds, our job is to foster excellence, diversity, and vitality in the arts.Â
Available Grants
Mark Ryder Choreography Award
Grant of up to $800 for individual dancers to create new work. Applications due in June.
Poet Laureate
Poet Laureate is an honorary two-year position with a $10,000 stipend. Applications due in December, every other year.
Youth Poet Laureate
Youth Poet Laureate is an honorary one-year position with a $500 stipend. Applications due in April.
Rising Star Performing Arts Competition
Annual competition that takes place as part of our Celebration of the Arts gala. Winners receive a $5,000 award. Applications due in May.
Art Scholarships
Scholarships awarded to high school seniors from Howard County who will be pursuing the arts in college. Applications due in January.
Community Arts Development Operating Grants
General operating support grants for Howard County arts nonprofits. Applications due in May.
Community Arts Development Project Grants
Project grants for Howard County arts nonprofits. Applications due in May.
Jim Rouse Theatre Subsidy
Grants to offset the cost for Community Arts Development grantees hosting programs at the Jim Rouse Theatre. Applications due in May.
Baltimore City Arts & Cultural Organizations Grants
Grants for key Baltimore City organizations that serve the citizens of Howard County. Applications due in April.
Artists-in-Education Grants
Grants for local schools to bring professional artists into the classroom. Applications due in June.
Creative Howard Grants
Grants for small nonprofit arts organizations and arts businesses to support creative public programs. Applications open from September-April.
Outreach Howard Grants
Grants for Baltimore City Arts & Cultural grantees who are presenting programs in Howard County. Applications due in April.
